Enrichment Days

We offer a range of Enrichment Days to use the site to bring a new dimension to your curriculum. Sessions run as one off sessions within a term to provide unique opportunities for your young people.
Our Enrichment days can be tailored to suit your requirements and curriculum needs. You can pick an ‘off the shelf’ day or we can design a day to suit the topic you are currently studying. The Trail Blazers team love a challenge!

Some of the themes we offer are:

Fishing, Foraging & Fire

An opportunity to build relationships between young people and adults, whilst spending quality time together learning new skills and creating memories!

Fishing offers just the right balance of excitement and relaxation in the great outdoors. This is ideal for those who would like to learn the basics of fishing, through working together to hook a fish. It gives you a really enjoyable and fulfilling experience in the great outdoors, while providing all the basic skills needed to enable  you to start fishing as a family. No previous experience required – all you need is your enthusiasm to try something new.

You will also get the opportunity to forage and use readily available bankside materials to make fire – a vital skill in bushcraft.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

We’ll be taking young people through all the essential skills of learning how to fish and make a fire. Once they’re all set up by the lake, they can relax and wait for the catch. We are a catch and release setting to preserve conservation.

Survival Challenge

Decipher your map, find water, build your shelter, hunt your food, make fire and survive the wild.

Imagine having to survive in the deep forest with only your wits and what you have in your pockets to get you out of there. That’s the challenge we set for young people who join us for Survival Challenges. Lucky for them, they are not alone and our expert Bushcraft Leaders have also landed in the woods to help your young people along their adventure!

Young people will have to navigate their way through the woods, pick the perfect site for their basecamp, discover which plants and trees could help them survive and learn to use sharp tools to craft useful items. There will also be our bushtucker challenge (optional) where we’ll be tasting all sorts of weird and wonderful snacks!

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

We’ll be taking young people through all the essential skills for survival. Once they’re all set up in the woods they can relax by their campfire and cook up some tasty treats. They can also get to try their hand at the ancient art of fire by friction! They’ll learn skills from our ancestors that will come in handy next time they find themselves dropped on a desert island… or more likely on their next camping trip.

Wildcraft Adventure

We take young people’s favourite video game and transform it into an outdoor adventure that gets young people off their screen and in the outdoors.

In video games like Minecraft, players have to survive in a hostile environment, build their own house, hunt for their food, search for resources and fend off wandering monsters. Sure, your young person can survive in the “wilderness” on the computer screen, but can they do it out in the woods for real?

In our unique outdoor game, young people have to work together, using what they know from video games to learn outdoor survival skills and earn points along the way. playing our “Wildcraft Adventure” game is a fantastic way to get your video game obsessed young person out into nature.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

Just like in their favourite video games, kids will be set a number of challenges throughout the day, and all the while be building their dens before “night” falls and the monsters wake up! Players will light their own campfires, “mine” for resources and use sharp axes; all activities are closely supervised by experienced Forest School leaders.

There’ll be plenty of time to get creative with play and imagination, of course. Wildcraft is a full day of video game inspired activities ideal for kids aged 6-12 years.
